This year's BALMUN conference is a very special one.

After having to cancel last year's conferenbce due to the pandemic, ISG's BALMUN students and staff did not want to miss out a second time and have organized an online conference, following the well received example of JFK High School in Berlin (BERMUN.)

So this morning started with the General Assembly broadcasted live from the ISG's assembly hall and was participated by more than 160 students from all over the world and other MUN partner schools via Zoom.

Delegates, directors and staff were welcomed by the Minister for Education, Science and Culture of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Bettina Martin, the ISG's headteacher, Dr. Markus Riemer as well by Deputy Secretaries Emily Thiessenhusen and Fabian Elsken  Sicard. Another recorded message was contributed by the Federal Ministry for the Environment.

First impulses on this year's focus on climate change were presented by Mrs. President of the General Assembly, Chelsea Wilp from JFK, Berlin later on followed by Mr. Diederik Samson from the European Commission and the General Consul Darion Akins from the US General Consulate in Hamburg.

Cookie breaks may have a different kind of taste this year, however, BALMUN is here to last.

Many fruitful debates!
